Restore Mid-Face Volume with Voluma Cheek Filler by Allergan

For people who are seeing their cheeks losing volume, and lines or folds starting to form around the nose and mouth, and who wish their face could be smoother, fuller, and more radiant-looking, they may want to explore using a cheek filler.

These injectable, non-surgical cheek fillers are perfect for softening creases, restoring volume, and enhancing natural contours. One dermal filler that’s popular for its effectiveness in restoring plumpness to the mid-face is Voluma, made by Allergan the makers of Botox and Juvederm[44].

Benefits of Voluma Cheek Filler

Certainly there are other cheek fillers on the market. Voluma, however, provides natural-looking results restoring volume to the mid-face and cheek area. It’s a soft-tissue filler providing amazing volume and lift. It can do this because of its cross-linked structure and light molecular weight to create a cohesive, smoothing gel with maximum lift[42].

Voluma is a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid is made naturally by our bodies and plays an important role in keeping our skin plump and hydrated. Voluma is made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid that’s designed to generate results that last up to 2 years.

How is the Voluma Cheek Filler Administered?

A physician or experienced injector (Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Nurse) will help to create a customized treatment plan for each patient. Prior to the office visit, the doctor may recommend avoiding the ingestion of aspirin, omega-3, vitamin E, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, and St. John’s Wort within 10-12 days of the injection. This helps lessen bruising and bleeding.

A topical numbing cream will be applied about 15 minutes before the treatment begins. Voluma is formulated with an anesthetic (lidocaine) to help make the injections more comfortable. As the practitioner injects the filler into the mid-face they will be pinching and massaging to mold and distribute the filler. Results are immediate.

Any time a needle is being inserted into the skin there is always the risk of bruising, but they typically resolve in a few days. Patients will also have some swelling and could experience some mild tenderness at the injection sites, but there is little or no downtime with Voluma.

Results to Expect from Voluma Cheek Fillers

Even if the volume loss is moderate to severe, patients will see great results and have younger-looking, beautiful skin. Voluma adds plumpness to cheeks, smooths lines around the eyes, and diminishes the appearance of lines or folds around the nose and mouth.

It also defines the facial features, fills hollows, and accentuates contours. Because Voluma was studied in all skin types, its effectiveness is well-documented. It’s the only product that’s FDA-approved for correcting volume loss due to age in the mid-face.

For patients with hollowed cheeks, deep smile lines and marionette lines, a jowly jawline, or a too-small chin, Voluma cheek filler can take years off the appearance. The use of Voluma can rejuvenate the appearance in a natural, healthy-looking way.
