SculpSure is the first non-invasive laser lipolysis (fat reduction) procedure approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the reduction of subcutaneous (under the skin) fat tissue (adipose). Also known as WarmSculpting™, SculpSure is administered directly on the patient’s skin, without the need for incisions or anesthesia.
Treatment areas for SculpSure include the abdomen, flanks, bra fat, and thighs. Ideal candidates have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or less, however if a patient has a BMI over 30 that doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t a candidate. Candidacy for SculpSure non-invasive fat removal is best determined by the individual’s goals and the expected results to be determined by the provider.
WIFH was the first medical practice in the state of Georgia to offer the innovative SculpSure fat removal treatment!
SculpSure or WarmSculpting™ is a hyperthermic device that uses heat to elevate the tissue temperature to disrupt fat cells underneath the skin. SculpSure’s laser energy effectively heats and destroys fat cells, resulting in up to a 24% reduction in cells with each treatment.
As heat is delivered to the fat and surrounding tissue, a contact cooling system prevents the surface of the skin from heating. As a result, the skin’s surface remains unharmed.
Additionally, the WarmSculpting™ laser’s heat also stimulates collagen and elastin production, providing the added benefit of making the skin appear firmer. The fat cells damaged by SculpSure are filtered and eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system. This process can take between 10-12 weeks to fully complete. Multiple SculpSure treatments are needed for best results.
SculpSure is a safe, effective, and non-invasive laser fat removal procedure that carries minimal risk. The SculpSure treatment is safe for all ethnicities and skin types.
Following a WarmSculpting™ treatment, it is common for patients to experience firm spots under the skin in the treated area. These firm areas are temporary and typically resolve in several weeks post treatment. Patients may experience mild tenderness and swelling.
Less common side effects include: bruising, itching, hyperpigmentation, burn/blisters — WIFH has not experienced any cases resulting in these side effects.
Unlike cold lipolysis or CoolSculpting, SculpSure does not have the possible side effect of PAH (paradoxical adipose hyperplasia) which is a reaction that can cause fat cells to enlarge permanently. For this reason, we feel SculpSure is the safest, most effective non-invasive fat removal technology available.
Leading up to the procedure it is recommended that patients discontinue the use of anti-inflammatory medications and supplements such as ibuprofen, NSAIDs, Aspirin, fish oil, quercetin, and turmeric for 2-3 days prior.
The reason for this is these medications and supplements can suppress the inflammatory response needed to disrupt the adipose (fat) cells. The suppression of the inflammatory response can impede the results of your SculpSure treatment.
Patients will also need to limit sun exposure for 7 days prior to the procedure, as patients with an active sunburn will not be able to receive treatment. As previously stated, SculpSure is safe for all skin types.
Upon arriving for your appointment at WIFH photos and measurements will be taken prior to beginning treatment. This provides a baseline to monitor post-treatment progress.
When getting SculpSure at WIFH patients can expect the entire process including preparation and treatment lasts between 30-35 minutes for up to 4 applicators. If more are needed.
Once in the treatment room, your provider will cleanse the area(s) receiving treatment. Next, the SculpSure applicator frames will be strategically arranged to provide optimal coverage and will be secured with a soft strap. Once secured, Lux Lotion Protectant is applied to help the frames maintain contact. The last step is snapping the SculpSure applicators into the frames so that treatment can begin.
Once the WarmSculpting™ treatment has begun, up to four applicators can run at one time. Each treatment cycle takes 25 minutes to complete. Most patients require more than four applicators to treat an area. In this case, at the completion of the initial 25-minute cycle, the frames and applicators are repositioned, and a 2nd treatment cycle begins to ensure the entire area is thoroughly treated.
Patients who undergo SculpSure experience no downtime and can return to normal activities, including exercise, immediately following their procedure.
Patients are advised to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and to massage the treated area for 5 minutes twice daily for 10 days post-treatment. Patients can experience some mild tenderness similar to that of a bruise, but it should not impact normal activities.
The patient’s body will begin to filter and eliminate the disrupted fat cells and will begin to see noticeable results in 6 weeks. Final results are expected 12-16 weeks post treatment. Because the fat cells have been destroyed, the results are long-lasting. However, patients should adhere to a lifestyle of diet and exercise post-procedure, as new fat cells could be produced.
Patient Consultations are always complimentary at WIFH. We believe they are an important step in understanding your treatment options when considering fat reduction procedures, whether it’s non-invasive, minimally invasive, or surgical.
During your WarmSculpting™ consultation, patients meet with Dr. Cox or a member of our experienced clinical team. During this visit we will review your medical history, listen to understand your goals and desired result. We will provide details regarding the treatment process and what to expect. We will also perform a physical assessment of the area(s) you are interested in treating.
Based on this assessment we will determine the number of SculpSure applicators we believe will be necessary to fully treat the area(s) to deliver optimal results. We will also layout realistic expectations and a timeline for seeing those results.
Disclaimer: Results vary from patient to patient and are not guaranteed.
SculpSure is ideal for people with trouble areas, particularly those that seem resistant to diet and exercise.
Patients can experience different sensations during their SculpSure treatment, with some feeling heat, and others reporting a cramping or a tingly/prickly sensation. While sensations differ, at WIFH, it is our experience that the treatment is well tolerated. We have the option of inhaled PRO-NOX, or “laughing gas” to help with discomfort during the treatment. This option will be discussed at your initial consultation.
At WIFH, the entire process including preparation and treatment lasts between 30-35 minutes. As mentioned, most patients will require more than 4 applicators to thoroughly treat the area. If that is the case an additional 25 minutes will be needed, adding to the total treatment time. For example, an average abdomen typically requires at least 8-applicators, this would take approximately 1 hour from start to finish. You can treat multiple areas during the same visit.
Patients will see results with one WarmSculpting™ treatment, but two treatments are recommended for best results. Some patients may opt for more than two treatments if they desire more reduction.
It is recommended to wait 10 weeks between treatments. This amount of time allows for the body to process the fat cells damaged from the first treatment before inundating it with more damaged cells. This allows for the greatest reduction and optimal outcome. The appropriate treatment plan will be determined at the patient’s consultation.
Many patients start to see results as early as 6 weeks following their SculpSure treatment as the body begins to evacuate the destroyed fat cells. Final results are expected between 12-16 weeks post treatment.
With SculpSure / WarmSculpting™, the fat cells that are permanently destroyed and eliminated from the body. This does not mean that new fat cells could form if the patient does not adhere to a healthy diet and exercise lifestyle post-procedure.
There is NO downtime with SculpSure, so you can have the treatment during your lunch hour and return to work and exercise immediately.
