Injectables Atlanta, GA
Injectables at WIFH
Why it’s Special
At WIFH , injectables are one of our most popular procedures. Injectables include neurotoxins (Botox and Dysport) dermal fillers, (Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero) and Sculptra.
Botulinum toxin, also known as Botox and Dysport, is the #1 aesthetic procedure in the world and has been for many years. This anti-aging treatment smoothes away lines and wrinkles on the upper face, specifically the frown lines, crow’s feet and brow lines. It can also be used in the lower face to treat TMJ, improve the appearance of a gummy smile, and provide a lip flip.
Treatment with hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers can smooth out facial folds and wrinkles, add volume to the lips, and contour facial features that have lost their volume and fullness due to aging, sun exposure, and illness.
Sculptra Aesthetic is the only FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) facial injectable treatment that works with your body to help stimulate natural collagen growth. Sculptra Aesthetic is different than hyaluronic acid (HA) filler because it is a biostimulator that addresses an underlying cause of aging skin from within-loss of collagen. By helping stimulate natural collagen growth, Sculptra Aesthetic helps to restore your skin’s facial volume and the look of fullness from wrinkles over time.
Results that last
Botox/Dysport – Several days after treatment, patients can begin to notice an improvement to the area treated. It can take up to 10-14 days for full results to be seen. Botulinum toxin effect typically lasts for 3-4 months for most patients.
Filler – Dermal (HA) fillers that we use at WIFH include Juvederm products ( Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC, Voluma XC, Volbella XC, Vollure XC) Restylane products (Restylane L, Refyne, Defyne, Silk and Kysse, Lyft and Contour) and Merz (Belotero). Filler provides an immediate result and can last anywhere between 6-24 months…sometimes more!
Sculptra- Sculptra (PLLA) helps stimulate growth of natural collagen. Results are not seen immediately, but began to appear over the course of three treatment sessions and can last up to 25 months.
Botulinum toxin- Patients may experience swelling and redness at the site of injection, this typically resolves in 15-20 minutes. Occasionally bruising can occur, it tends to be very easy to cover with make-up.
Dermal (HA) Filler/Sculptra- Some swelling and bruising can occur. Ice can be used off and on for the first hour to help minimize any swelling and bruising. The next day, patients can experience mild tenderness in the injected area.

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?
Botox and Dysport are both used cosmetically to reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles on the upper face. They are a quick and easy way to bring back or maintain a more youthful look. They both work by blocking the neurotransmitters to the muscles, allowing them to relax and the skin to smooth.
With Botox, onset results start to kick in within 72 hours and full results can be seeen at two weeks. While with Dysport, onset results can start as soon as 24 hours and full results can be seen within five to seven days.
Do injectables hurt?
Dermal fillers can be somewhat uncomfortable but, our dermal fillers contain lidocaine, a common anesthetic, which helps patients be able tolerate the “pinch and pressure” of being injected. After any treatment, our injectors will send our patients home with an ice-pack to help alleviate any discomfort.
Depending on where the the patient is being injected, a topical numbing cream will be applied for 15-20 minutes prior to being injected to to help with the comfort level, especially for lip filler.
Botox and Dysport are not particularly painful, but for some, they will feel mild pain at the injection site. Some would say it feels like a slight pinch.
Our clinicians also use several techniques to make our patients as comfortable as possible.
How do injectables get rid of wrinkles?
Botox and Dysport both work to relax the muscle in the area being injected causing a more youthful, smooth appearance. Not only are the able to soften wrinkles in the skin, but Botox and Dysport can help the appearance of a Gummy Smile, provide a more defined lip without adding volume (Lip Flip), and be injected into the Masseter Muscle to help with TMJ.
Dermal fillers help with any lost natural hyaluronic acid in the skin to subtly fill lines, creases and areas with any lost volume. Dermal fillers can be used for sculpting and facial balancing, it can treat any scarring and signs of aging as well.
What are the risks/side effects of injectables?
Based on clinical studies, injections produce a very low occurrence of adverse events. Since a needle is being inserted in the skin there is always the risk of bruising. They are typically very tiny and easily covered up by make-up. Some patients may experience a headache afterward, but this is temporary. Having your forehead injected can make it feel heavy the first time you have it done.
Other less common risks can include:
- Redness, itching, firmness and lumpiness in the injected area.
- Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding
- Patients using substances that reduce coagulation, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may experience increased bleeding with resultant bruising at the injection sites
- Vascular occlusion
Can I get injections before a big event?
Patients recovery time from any botulinum or dermal filler may vary. Not all patients bruise, but some swelling and bruising can last for up to two at the site of injection.
Due to the possibility of bruising we recommend scheduling any dermal filler appointments at least 1-3 months in advance to any major event.
Any botulinum appointment should be scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance.
If a patient has a last minute event and needs a quick botulinum fix, (Botox or Dysport) we recommend the patient to get Dysport as it can kick in as early as 1-3 days.
These injectable, non-surgical dermal fillers are perfect for softening creases, restoring volume, and enhancing natural contours. Visit WIFH and find out which is right for you based on your specific desired results and personal preference.
