VI Peel for Acne Scars: Does it Work?

Table of Contents

Acne scars can be both embarrassing and frustrating. Many patients have tried different treatments to get rid of them, and nothing seems to work. For those who have heard of VI Peel, they may wonder: Does VI Peel treat acne scars?

At WIFH, we definitely recommend VI Peel for acne scars1. We also recommend microneedling after VI Peel to further repair the texture of the skin.

Dealing with Active Acne

Before we can address acne scars, we need to address the acne. If a patient still has active acne then we would start off with a VI Peel Purify. This peel clears out dead cells to open pores, kills acne bacteria, as well as soothes inflammation and redness. To keep the skin healthy and to prevent future breakouts, it is vital that patients use medical grade skincare products at home as well. For example, Obagi’s Clenziderm system works well for acne prone skin.

After Acne is Clear

Once the acne is cleared up, we can address the scars. Acne scars will sometimes fade over time on their own, but that process can often feel like it takes forever. The VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus will help eliminate acne scars and skin damage, leaving the skin smooth and clear.

The peel is specifically formulated to help smooth skin texture and repair acne scars, brightening dark areas left after an acne scar, and soothing inflammation and redness. It also helps to stimulate collagen production plumping the depressed, pitted skin. Patients will need a series of peels to get the best results.

Additional and Supplemental Treatments

For deeper acne scarring, we recommend microneedling to be done four weeks post-VI Peel to further repair the texture of the skin. Microneedling stimulates natural collagen production, which will not only plump the texture of the skin but will also give it a healthy and radiant glow2. Depending on the severity of the scars, you may need four to eight treatments of microneedling spaced four weeks apart to achieve the best results.
