Fractional Collagen Induction Therapy with Radiofrequency Energy

What Is RF Microneedling

What Is RF Microneedling?

RF (radiofrequency) microneedling is a specialized skin treatment that combines traditional microneedling with the power of radiofrequency energy. This advanced technology penetrates deep into the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production for tighter, smoother skin.

RF microneedling is ideal for treating a variety of skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars and surgical scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Skin laxity
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Crepey skin on the face, neck, chest, and body
  • Sun damage/age spots

RF microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones and can be used on both the face and body. Learn more about our RF microneedling treatments below.

How Does RF Microneedling Work?

RF microneedling uses tiny, ultra-fine needles to create controlled, micro-channels in the skin, similar to traditional microneedling. RF microneedling then takes it a step further, delivering radiofrequency energy deep into the skin, targeting areas you want to improve. This dual-action process uses thermal energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and remodeling for firmer, more rejuvenated skin.

At WIFH, we use the PiXel8-RF device. Its advanced RF microneedling technology allows us to customize the depth of needle penetration and the intensity of radiofrequency energy based on your skin’s needs and treatment goals.

Preparing for RF Microneedling

Prepare for your RF microneedling treatment with the recommendations below. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us for more information before your appointment.

  • Skincare: Stop using exfoliating products, acids, and bleaching creams/products 3-5 days before your treatment, this includes retinols and tretinoin
  • Tanning: Avoid self-tanners 2 weeks prior to treatment. All redness and sunburns must completely heal before microneedling.
  • Skin Treatments: Do not wax or have a skin treatment like a chemical peel or IPL 2 weeks before your treatment. RF Microneedling cannot be done if you have active acne, cold sores, or open lesions.
  • Alcohol: Limit alcohol use 2 days in advance of your treatment.
  • Supplements and medications: Discontinue all supplements including fish oils, aspirin, and ibuprofen 3-5 days before your treatment. If you are on a prescribed anticoagulant, you will need to consult with your prescribing physician.

On the day of your treatment, it is preferred that you come in with a clean face. If you are coming from work or otherwise unable to come in with a clean face, we will have you cleanse your face once you arrive.

RF microneedling can be treated on multiple areas, including:

  • Face (forehead, cheeks, around the eyes, jawline)

What to Expect Before The Procedure

Once you’ve purchased an RF Microneedling package, you’ll receive a complimentary at-home numbing kit. Your kit can be picked up in-office before your first session or mailed directly to you for $7. We do this to help optimize your time, so instead of waiting in our office for up to an hour, you can apply the numbing cream at home and arrive ready for treatment. This kit includes:

  • 4 individually labeled jars of numbing cream (one for each treatment)
  • Alcohol pads
  • Gloves
  • Tongue depressors
  • Printed instructions and a link to step-by-step video instructions

You’ll apply the numbing cream 60 minutes before your appointment and leave it on until you arrive at our office (find the instructions here). Our team will remove the cream and prepare your skin for your treatment.

What to Expect During RF Microneedling in Atlanta

What to Expect During The Procedure

RF microneedling is a non-surgical, in-office procedure that typically takes about 60 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Cleanse the Skin: We begin by thoroughly cleansing the treatment area with a medical-grade solution to remove any numbing cream and ensure a clean, sterile surface for your procedure.
  2. Treatment: Once your skin is prepped, we use a handheld device that combines microneedling with RF (radiofrequency) energy to stimulate collagen, tighten skin, and improve texture.
  3. Post-Treatment Care: After your session, you may experience some redness and a mild sunburn-like sensation for 24–48 hours. Most patients return to normal activities within a day. We’ll provide you with detailed post-care instructions to support optimal healing.

If you purchase a treatment package, it includes four sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, plus an Alastin Post-Procedure Kit at your first visit, complete with enough product to care for your skin through your entire series.

Optional Upgrades: For even more regenerative benefits, you can upgrade from the standard growth factor serum to traditional PRP or PureGF.

Enhance Your Results with PRP or PureGF

For enhanced results, you can choose to upgrade your RF Microneedling treatment with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) or PureGF (Pure Growth Factor), both designed to amplify collagen production and accelerate skin rejuvenation.

  • Traditional PRP is drawn from your own blood and spun in a centrifuge to concentrate your body’s natural growth factors. Once applied during or after microneedling, it helps accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production.
  • PureGF (Pure Growth Factor) is a next-generation alternative to PRP, containing over 450 active growth factors, with no blood draw required. Because it’s derived from a purified regenerative serum less than 24 hours old, its potency isn’t affected by factors like age, health conditions, lifestyle, or diet. It’s consistent, powerful, and designed to deliver enhanced results regardless of individual biology.

Whether you’re looking for a boost from your own PRP or the cutting-edge consistency of Pure GF both options offer advanced support for smoother, healthier skin.

RF Microneedling Recovery & Aftercare

Aftercare is an important step for both RF microneedling and traditional microneedling. Your skin will look red or pink and may feel warm and tight immediately following treatment. This will typically subside in a few hours but can last as long as 24-48 hours.

When you purchase a 4-session RF Microneedling package, a SkinCeuticals Post-Procedure Kit is included to support your skin through the entire series. You’ll receive it at your first visit, and your practitioner will walk you through how to use each product for best results.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you recover from RF microneedling:

  • Keep your skin clean and hydrated to speed the healing process. Wash your face a few hours after treatment and apply the products in your WIFH post-procedure skin care kit. Wash your face again before bed and continuously keep it clean and well-moisturized.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after your treatment, as sweat can further irritate the skin.
  • Don’t wear makeup for the first 24 hours after your treatment. Use only gentle cleanser and tepid water to cleanse the skin for 72 hours or 3 days post treatment. Do not use a Clarisonic or powered cleansing brush for at least one week after treatment.
  • Wear sunscreen and avoid acids, retinols, tretinoin, exfoliating products, and sun exposure for the next 5–7 days post-treatment.
  • Follow your practitioners aftercare instructions carefully as these guidelines are designed to protect your skin and enhance your results throughout the healing process.

Frequently Asked Questions About RF Microneedling

Does RF Microneedling Really Work?

Yes, RF microneedling really works! It’s an effective treatment that leads to smoother, firmer skin. RF microneedling goes deeper than regular microneedling, with thermal energy that stimulates and remodels collagen for tighter, brighter, younger-looking skin.

How Many RF Microneedling Treatments Are Needed?

While you may notice some improvements after a single session, a series of 4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. Your practitioner will create a personalized treatment plan based on your skin goals.

What RF Microneedling Results Can I Expect?

Within 6–8 weeks of your first treatment, you’ll begin to notice gradual improvements in skin tone, texture, and overall radiance. Results continue to build with each session in your package, with many patients seeing their best outcomes after 8 weeks following their last treatment.

How Long Does RF Microneedling Last?

Results can last up to 12–18 months. To maintain your results, we recommend an annual treatment, along with a daily skincare routine recommended by your practitioner.

Is RF Microneedling Safe?

Yes, RF microneedling is considered safe for all skin types and tones, with minimal risk of hyperpigmentation. At WIFH, your safety is our top priority. Our team is highly trained in advanced aesthetic treatments, and we take every precaution to ensure your treatment is effective and comfortable.

RF Microneedling Vs. Microneedling: Which One Is Right for Me?

Both treatments boost collagen and improve skin texture, but they target different layers of the skin. Traditional microneedling is ideal for those without visible signs of aging who want to take a preventative approach — it targets surface concerns like fine lines, large pores, and mild acne scarring. RF microneedling goes deeper, using radiofrequency energy to tighten skin and treat more advanced concerns like wrinkles, laxity, and deeper acne scars — making it a great option for those with visible signs of aging.
