Using a vacuum system and an assortment of treatment tips, the DermaSweep MD Microdermabrasion wand gently lifts the skin, removing the top layer and then vacuums away the dead skin. The vacuum cleans the pores and increases blood flow to the skin’s surface to encourage collagen formation. Skin specific treatments, called infusions, are then applied to the skin to address conditions such as acne, hyperpigmentation and dehydration.
The short answer is no. Microdermabrasion does not hurt. The sensation you feel might depend on the kind of microdermabrasion you get, but none of these methods should be painful or even uncomfortable.
Microdermabrasion treatments are a ‘no downtime’ procedure. You are able to return to normal activities immediately following treatment. However it is advised to avoid sun exposure for a few days after treatment. Sunscreen should be worn daily.
Yes! The DermaSweep microdermabrasion technique that we offer at WIFH is safe to have during pregnancy.
You will notice a difference in your skin immediately following treatment. However for cumulative change you will need a series of treatments. You can have a microdermabrasion treatment every 2 weeks. Microdermabrasion can also be used as a routine maintenance treatment to enhance your daily skincare regimen.
Patients can have a microdermabrasion as frequently as every 2 weeks. Microderms are a great “maintenance” procedure to keep the skin smooth and fresh.
If patients are using an aggressive product regimen like the Obagi Nu Derm System it is recommended to have a microderm every 6-weeks or so to keep the skin from becoming dull. It’s good to get all of that dead skin off from time to time.
