The SculpSure Difference

If you’ve heard of body contouring, you may have heard of the increasingly popular procedure called SculpSure.  In fact, our practice was the very first Medspa in Georgia to offer this effective procedure to our patients.

Keep reading as we dispel some myths of SculpSure and answer some of our most frequently asked questions like, “How does it work?” and “Is it permanent?”

What is SculpSure?

SculpSure is a non-invasive, laser lipolysis treatment that reduces fat and it is 100% FDA-approvedUnlike CoolSculptingwhich uses cold to target fat cells, SculpSure uses heat to eliminate unwanted fat.

While not a weight-loss treatment, SculpSure is a highly effective treatment used for fat reduction in both men and women. It is also suitable for many areas of the body like the flanks (aka love handles), abdomen, bra fat, and thighs where stubborn fat tends to settle.

During treatment at WIFH, your practitioner will use a 1060nm Diode laser to raise the temperature of the fat cells. Once precisely heated, the injured fat cells are ejected from the adipose tissue. This results in up to a 24% fat reduction in the treatment area. And the best part, results are permanent.

Does SculpSure Body Sculpting Treatments Really Get Rid of Unwanted Fat?

Yes, body sculpting treatments like SculpSure get rid of fat on targeted areas of the body.  The fact that there is no downtime is part of SculpSure’s popularity.  The short treatment time makes it easy to fit into your busy schedule. If you have any questions regarding the procedure or the after-effects of SculpSure treatment, please contact the practitioners at WIFH.

How Does It Get Rid of Body Fat?

Did you know fat heats up faster than it freezes? In about 25-minutes, SculpSure targets and eliminates fat. The four laser applicators used can treat both large and small surface areas (no pinchable fat needed as with CoolSculpting). It’s important to note that the number of applicators needed will depend on the area(s) you are having treated.

During treatment, the laser’s energy heats up the area in direct contact with the applicator, but the energy also diffuses into the surrounding adipose tissue affecting those fat cells as well. This ensures an even removal of fat resulting in a natural, smooth, contoured appearance. There is no risk of dents or dimpling or any obvious difference between the treated area(s) and adjacent area(s).

The heat ejects the damaged fat cells that are then filtered out of your body over a period of several weeks and months. While the fat cells are destroyed and will not regenerate, bear in mind to maintain results you will need to follow a healthy lifestyle.

SculpSure Body Contouring Myth: Post-Surgery Dents

SculpSure treatments cause dent-like structures in the treated area.-This is completely false and is just another myth found in the consumer cosmetic world. It is very important to see a practice and practitioner that you know and trust. They will be able to review the procedure in detail and what you can expect.

Who Is the Ideal Candidate for SculpSure?

An ideal candidate for this type of body contouring is someone who has localized, stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to diet or exercise. Good SculpSure candidates ideally have a BMI under 30, are generally in good health, and live a healthy lifestyle.

SculpSure Body Contouring Myth: It Works Only on The Abdomen

SculpSure is actually a very versatile treatment for fat reduction. The lasers are able to target a variety of areas on the body successfully.

This cosmetic treatment was approved by the FDA for reducing fat cells in these areas:

  • Upper and lower abdominal area
  • Flanks (love handles) and Back
  • Inner and Outer Thighs

How Soon Should I See Results with SculpSure?

You’re not going to see an immediate change. Several treatments may be necessary to achieve the best results. It does take weeks or even months to see a reduction in the treated area.

On average, patients will need 2-3 SculpSure treatments spaced 6-10 weeks apart. Depending on your body and the amount of fat cells in the treatment area, this may vary. Speak with one of our experts to determine if this is the right fat reduction procedure for you.

Is It Painful?

During treatment, the surface of the skin is being cooled, providing a comfortable treatment experience. Some WIFH patients have reported feeling sensations of warmth, tingling, and/or cramping ranging from mild to intense. But in general, SculpSure treatments are well-tolerated.

SculpSure Body contouring Myth: Painful Skin Irritation

The heating phase during treatment may result in a tingling sensation or a minor pinching feeling. Following SculpSure treatmentyou may notice some mild tenderness in the area but no pain or bruising.

Post-procedure there is minimal tenderness. The irritation caused, if any, during SculpSure is only a temporary effect that subsides quickly. You can return to normal activity immediately.
