IPL (intense pulsed light) also known as PhotoFacial has been around for many years. As with all good technology, over time it improves and with it so do the results. At WIFH, we use the Icon IPL device made by Palomar to eliminate those bothersome imperfections on your face and body.

Preparing for IPL PhotoFacial
3-5 days before your IPL treatment it is advised to stop using exfoliating products, acids, tretinoin (Retin-A), retinols and bleaching creams/products.
- Do not wax or have a skin treatment like a chemical peel 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
- IPL cannot be done if you have active acne, cold sore or open lesions.
- Please discontinue Accutane 6 months prior to having any skin treatment or procedure due to skin sensitivity.

What to Expect During IPL PhotoFacial
Before your treatment the area will be cleansed removing any make-up and or lotions. You will be required to wear protective eyewear during treatment as the light flashes during treatment are super bright. A lubricating lotion will be applied to the treatment area and the Icon handpiece will be held to the skin. The face of the hand piece will feel cool on the surface of the skin, which helps to make your treatment comfortable.

IPL PhotoFacial Recovery Time
Immediately following your IPL PhotoFacial treatment, it is common to feel like you have mild sunburn. This typically resolves within 2-24 hours. Redness and/or swelling may accompany this and usually resolves in 2-3 days.

IPL PhotoFacial Consultations
We believe consultations are very important when considering any skin treatment. Our consultations give us the opportunity to get to know you and understand exactly what you are looking to achieve with your skin. At your consultation you will meet with one medical aesthetician who will put together a treatment plan along with product recommendations for you to consider.
