How Does VI Peel Work?
VI Peels can address and treat a number of skin issues and conditions. All Vi Peels are suitable for all skin types and ethnicities. Unlike other chemical peels the VI peels deliver nourishing vitamins and minerals during the exfoliation to aid in the healing process.
We offer a variety of VI Peels to address any skin concern.
VI Peel (the original)
This peel is rejuvenating, restorative and perfect for anti-aging2. The aging process can cause the skin to become lax, pigmented and rough. Sun exposure and environmental assault only add to the problem. Aging is inevitable but the VI Peel can make a difference in as little as 7 days.
- Softens fine lines and wrinkles
- Restores a more even skin tone
- Smooths away rough skin texture
- Reduces age spots and sun damage
VI Peel Precision Plus
Hyperpigmentation is a condition when patches of skin become darker than the surrounding skin. Although it is usually harmless, it can be very difficult to treat effectively. The VI Peel Precision Plus helps to eliminate stubborn hyperpigmentation (including melasma), improve tone and texture, and achieve healthy, radiant skin.
- Specifically formulated for pigmented skin
- Reduces the appearance of age spots and sun damage
- Brightens even the most stubborn areas of discoloration
- Evens skin tone and texture
VI Peel Purify
Acne can be a hard thing to get under control. Purify is designed for those with active acne and acne-prone skin. This peel uniquely combines: Benzoyl Peroxide, Kojic acid and Hydrocortisone to tackle the active acne and keep future break outs at bay.
- Increases cellular turnover to open pores
- Eliminates bacteria
- Soothes inflammation and redness
VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus
Acne can leave patients with scarred skin and sometimes increased pigmentation. Acne scars will often fade over time but sometimes they need a little help. VI PURIFY with Precision Plus will help eliminate acne scars and skin damage leaving skin smooth and clear3.

What are the Risks/Side Effects?
The VI Peel itself has minimal risks. They are safe for all skin types and ethnicities. How patients care for skin post-peel is very important. Patients will be provided additional products to apply at home over the first several days. For best outcomes, patients will need to adhere to this regimen and instructions.
*This treatment is not safe during pregnancy.
Preparing for VI Peel
The Week Before the Procedure
- 3-5 days before your VI peel is advised to stop using exfoliating products, tretinoin (Retin-A), acids and bleaching creams/products.
- Do not wax or have a skin treatment like a chemical peel or IPL 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
- Please discontinue Accutane 6 months prior to having any skin treatment or procedure due to skin sensitivity.
The Day of the Treatment
There is no real prep involved on the day of your treatment. It is always preferred that you come in with a clean face (no make-up), however if you are coming from work we will have you cleanse your face once you arrive.
If you typically exercise, you will want to do that before coming in for your peel. You will not want to exercise or sweat for 72-96 hours after having this peel.
What to Expect During the Procedure
Patients’ skin will be cleansed and prepped for the peel. The selected peel will be applied over the face and neck until all of the liquid has been used and absorbed by the skin. This peel is self-neutralizing, it will not be cleansed from the skin while they are in our office. Patients may feel mild tingling and warmth during the peel application.
4-6 hours after leaving our office patients will cleanse the peel from their skin.
Patients will be provided products that will enhance the peel’s effects along with directions on how to care for their skin during the peeling process.
Pain/Discomfort
This peel is very comfortable thanks to the ingredient phenol. Most medium level peels can feel very stingy and quite uncomfortable. With the VI Peel patients may sense some warmth and mild tingling, but the phenol acts as a numbing agent making the peel painless.
Treatment Duration/Frequency
VI Peels are very quick to apply, and the appointment should only take 15-30 minutes.
If patients are using the VI Peel to correct a skin condition a series of 1-3 peels will likely be needed. If they are treating the body more than 3 peels will most likely be needed. Patients will want to space these every 4-weeks.
Once a patient has completed a series, having 1-2 peels per year as maintenance will help maintain results.
VI Peel Recovery Time
When a patient leaves our office, their skin may look a little yellow. This is the peel. The peel self neutralizes over several hours. 4-6 hours after the peel, patients will cleanse the peel from their skin.
For the next 2-3 days, they will use the provided treatment toilettes and post-peel cream.
After these first few days, patients will use a gentle cleanser and hydrating and nourishing products to keep the skin well hydrated. Patients do not want to let the skin dry out.
48-72 hours after having the peel, patients will begin to peel. It will typically start around the mouth and on the chin, spreading from there.
DO NOT pick or peel the skin! Doing this could result in scarring and discoloration. It is best to allow the skin to shed on its own.
It can take 7-10 days for the peeling to complete.
Once all peeling has stopped, patients can resume their normal skincare regimen.
VI Peel Consultations
We believe consultations are very important when considering any skin treatment. Our consultations give us the opportunity to get to know our patients and understand exactly what they are looking to achieve with their skin. At the consultation, the patient will meet with one medical aestheticians who will put together a treatment plan along with product recommendations for the patient to consider.
VI Peel Pricing
The cost of a VI Peel depends on the peel selected and the number of peels a patient will need to achieve their skin care goals. The expected range for a VI Peel at WIFH is between $300-400 per treatment.
