Safe for all skin types and colors, VI Peels can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, back, and legs, and they are the ONLY peels safe for the delicate under-eye areas.

Preparing for VI Peel

The Week Before the Procedure

  • 3-5 days before your VI peel is advised to stop using exfoliating products, tretinoin (Retin-A), acids and bleaching creams/products.
  • Do not wax or have a skin treatment like a chemical peel or IPL 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
  • Please discontinue Accutane 6 months prior to having any skin treatment or procedure due to skin sensitivity.

The Day of the Treatment

There is no real prep involved on the day of your treatment. It is always preferred that you come in with a clean face (no make-up), however if you are coming from work we will have you cleanse your face once you arrive.

If you typically exercise, you will want to do that before coming in for your peel. You will not want to exercise or sweat for 72-96 hours after having this peel.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Patients’ skin will be cleansed and prepped for the peel. The selected peel will be applied over the face and neck until all of the liquid has been used and absorbed by the skin.

4-6 hours after leaving our office patients will cleanse the peel from their skin. Patients will be provided products that will enhance the peel’s effects along with directions on how to care for their skin during the peeling process.

Pain/Discomfort

With the VI Peel patients may sense some warmth and mild tingling, but the phenol acts as a numbing agent making the peel painless.

Treatment Duration/Frequency

The appointment takes 15-30 minutes, and ideally you want to space the peels 4 weeks apart. For correcting a skin condition a series of 1-3 peels will likely be needed, and for the body it’s usually more than 3 peels.

VI Peel Recovery & Aftercare

When a patient leaves our office, their skin may look a little yellow. This is the peel. The peel self neutralizes over several hours. 4-6 hours after the peel, patients will cleanse the peel from their skin.

For the next 2-3 days, they will use the provided treatment toilettes and post-peel cream. After these first few days, patients will use a gentle cleanser and hydrating and nourishing products to keep the skin well hydrated. Patients do not want to let the skin dry out.

48-72 hours after having the peel, patients will begin to peel. It will typically start around the mouth and on the chin, spreading from there.

DO NOT pick or peel the skin! Doing this could result in scarring and discoloration.  It is best to allow the skin to shed on its own.

It can take 7-10 days for the peeling to complete.

Once all peeling has stopped, patients can resume their normal skincare regimen.

VI Peel Consultations

We believe consultations are very important when considering any skin treatment. Our consultations give us the opportunity to get to know our patients and understand exactly what they are looking to achieve with their skin.

At the consultation, the patient will meet with one medical aestheticians who will put together a treatment plan along with product recommendations for the patient to consider.

The cost of a VI Peel depends on the peel selected and the number of peels a patient will need to achieve their skin care goals. The expected range for a VI Peel at WIFH is between $300-400 per treatment.

VI Peel FAQs

What will the VI Peel do for the skin?

It tackles skin problems at the cellular level rather than just burning skin off. Thanks to the concerted actions of its many acids and vitamins, it will help erase fine lines and wrinkles, shrink enlarged pores and build collagen and elastin which tighten skin. It is extremely effective in reducing or eliminating hyper pigmentation including melasma, the most difficult pigmentation issue to correct4. The Vi Peel also provides excellent results for acne.

Does VI Peel Hurt?

This peel is very comfortable thanks to the ingredient phenol. Most medium level peels can feel very stingy and quite uncomfortable. With the VI Peel patients may sense some warmth and mild tingling, but the phenol acts as a numbing agent making the peel painless.

Does VI Peel burn?

Not really. Patients will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds which subsides almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, and numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan or cold air breeze.

How many VI Peel treatments do you need to show an improved look?

A single VI Peel will achieve significant repair and add a healthy glow to the skin. Some conditions like acne scars, pore enlargement and hyper pigmentation might require multiple applications. It is a restorative and painless repair of damaged skin, including sun damage and acne. Best of all, it is a true aging preventative for younger skin with no visible damage.

How badly will patients peel with VI Peel?

The skin peeling associated with the VI Peel is a light, fluffy peel that will start on day three and generally be finished by the end of day four. The peeling is easily hidden by moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible. Patients using Retin A may experience heavier peeling. The peel can be modulated by the skin care provider to produce a deeper, more aggressive peel, if necessary, depending on the skin condition.

How Often Can You Get VI Peel?

VI Peels are very quick to apply, and the appointment should only take 15-30 minutes.

If patients are using the VI Peel to correct a skin condition a series of 1-3 peels will likely be needed. If they are treating the body more than 3 peels will most likely be needed. Patients will want to space these every 4-weeks.

Once a patient has completed a series, having 1-2 peels per year as maintenance will help maintain results.

What types of skin respond well to the VI Peel?

The many innovations that created the VI Peel combine to allow ALL skin types to enjoy the benefits of the peel. For the first time, darker skin types such can experience anti-aging and restorative skin repair previously unavailable.

What will patients look like right after the VI Peel and during the next few days?

The skin will look slightly tan, yellow or red immediately after the peel. On days one and two the skin will feel slightly tighter, with no Visible signs of having had a peel. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker. On approximately day three, patients will begin to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth area and continue for a day or two. With the use of the Vi Derm™ moisturizer, patients may go about their usual daily routine. By day six or day seven the patient will be done peeling and the results are dramatic! If a more aggressive peel was performed, a secondary peel might occur around day seven.

How would the VI Peel compare to the Obagi Blue Peel or a TCA Peel?

The VI Peel is almost painless, and requires none of the skin pre conditioning required by those peels when used on skin types 4 to 6. In addition, the VI Peel has very few of the complications and hazards that usually come with those peels.
