Botox and Dysport is our most popular treatment here at WIFH and has been for years. Both of these options are injectable forms of the Botulinum toxin and are used to cosmetically reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles on the upper face. They are a quick and easy way to bring back or maintain a more youthful look.
Botulinum toxins both work by blocking the neurotransmitters to the muscles, allowing them to relax and the skin to smooth. This anti-aging treatment smoothes away lines and wrinkles on the upper face. Specifically the frown lines, crow’s feet and brow lines, the appearance of a gummy smile, provide a lip flip, and help with TMJ.

How it works
Botulinum toxins works by reducing the mobility of the muscles that cause those persistent lines and wrinkles that have developed over time. Within days after treatment, you will begin to notice an improvement in the area treated. It can take up to 10-12 days for full results to be seen. If you do not continue botulinum toxin treatments such as Botox and Dysport, the lines and wrinkles will gradually return and look like they did before treatment.
Preparing for Botox + Dysport
The week before your procedure, to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising, you should discontinue all supplements including fish oils, aspirin and ibuprofen. If you are on a prescribed anticoagulant, you will need to consult with your prescribing physician to see what they recommend before moving forward with botulinum toxin injections.
What to Expect During Botox + Dysport
While the thought of having a needle stuck in your face sounds like it would hurt. Botulinum injections are actually very comfortable. No numbing is required when administering Botox and Dysport, unless requested by the patient. The tiny little needle enters the skin easily and without much discomfort. It is not at all like receiving a shot.
Botox + Dysport Recovery Time
Typically, the injected areas return to normal within 15-20 minutes following treatment. You may experience injection site swelling and redness, but again, this goes away typically by the time you are back in your car after leaving your appointment.

At your consultation you will meet with one of our advanced injectors who will make recommendations for the number of units they believe will provide you the look you are after.
