What is Microneedling?

While it may sound slightly intimidating at first, microneedling is simply collagen induction therapy

Your skin cells naturally turn over every 4-6 weeks. We perform our therapeutic microneedling in a series that follows this same natural process. Microneedling makes micro-wounds in the skin to trigger your body’s healing response, creating new collagen. As your cells rejuvenate on their own, it heals the damaged skin, restoring its youthful appearance.

What To Expect During Each Session

First, we apply a numbing cream, letting it sit for one hour to take effect. Next, we cleanse and prep your skin for the procedure.

Our microneedling handheld device contains 9 minuscule needles that glide over your skin, placing microscopic punctures or channels throughout. These channels stimulate the body’s healing process, producing collagen and elastin to rebuild your skin’s tissue.

During and immediately after the treatment, we apply a medical-grade growth factor that provides vital nutrients to accelerate the healing process.

Typically, our patients begin to notice an improvement in their skin within 2-4 weeks and find that their scars and wrinkles have noticeably diminished over two to three months. From plumping the surface to improving texture, you will rediscover your younger, smoother skin once again.

Preparing for Your Procedure

Microneedling is a very simple procedure with minimal preparation.

Leading up to your treatment, you will need to avoid waxing and chemical peels (2 weeks prior), exfoliating or bleaching products (3-5 days prior), and retinol and tretinoin (12 hours prior). We only perform microneedling on faces that are clear of active acne, cold sores, or open lesions to ensure our patients’ continued health. This procedure is very safe for all skin types, with only a slight risk of minor irritation.

After Microneedling

Immediately following the treatment, you may notice your skin is slightly pink, which will go away within 24 hours. We will give you an at-home skincare routine to help your skin stay hydrated and continue to heal.

While we recommend waiting one week to resume using retinol or tretinoin, you can return to using most of your regular skincare products three days after the procedure!

After microneedling, you will notice visibly firmer, tighter skin. Your hydrating serums will be able to penetrate the skin more deeply, and you’ll enjoy a brighter complexion — free from previous scarring and other skin issues!
