Most patients considering Smartlipo want to see before and after photos of the body part they are interested in treating. Smartlipo can reduce fat in almost any area of the body. The most common areas are: the abdomen, arms, chin, beneath the buttocks or banana roll, male chests, inner and outer thighs, bra fat and flanks.
Below are a few Smartlipo before and after photos of our patients that have had this fat reduction procedure with us. You can find more photos like these in the before and after section of our website along more information about the Smartlipo procedure. In this article we will also explain more about Smartlipo Triplex and how it works.
What is Smartlipo Triplex?
Smartlipo Triplex is laser-assisted liposuction, also known as laser lipolysis, it is also the name of the laser we use for this procedure. Smartlipo is a minimally invasive surgical procedure done right here in our office. The procedure uses a laser along with local anesthesia to gently melt the fat before suctioning it from the body.
During the procedure tiny instruments are used, which means the openings in the skin are very tiny and there is less bruising (if any) because less trauma is being caused under the skin. The triplex model is the strongest and latest version of the laser and houses three different wavelengths of laser to deliver the best results. Smartlipo can be used to treat almost any area of the body: the chin, male chest, abs, bra fat, flanks, thighs, arms, and knees.
What is the Smartlipo procedure like?
The Smartlipo procedure is done under local anesthesia, so you are awake and aware throughout the entire procedure. If you are a bit nervous about having the laser liposuction procedure done while you are awake, you can take an oral sedative, but you will have to have someone drive you home. However, 94% of our patients take nothing prior to the procedure and are able to drive themselves home after their procedure is done.
We use high volumes of lidocaine as the local anesthetic, which is the same thing they use at the dental office to numb the gum line. The lidocaine fluid is infused in the area that will be treated. It provides a complete block making the procedure comfortable and painless. Tiny punctures are placed in the skin in inconspicuous places, and then a thin cannula with a laser fiber threaded through it is inserted. The laser pulses, delivering energy to melt and liquefy the fat.
The heat is also absorbed by the skin tissue, which elicits a healing response that causes your body to over-produce collagen and elastin. Since collagen and elastin are the building blocks to skin tissue, the procedure helps to tighten and thicken the skin. You should not be left with loose, sagging skin following your Smartlipo procedure. Once everything is liquefied, the fatty fluid is removed via suction from the body.
What can I expect after the Smartlipo procedure?
For most areas we treat with Smartlipo, we will require that you wear a compression garment for 3 weeks post procedure; there are some areas that are exempt. You should expect to have swelling which will dissipate over the course of several weeks. You could have minor bruising, but not all patients do. You are provided with a prescribed pain medication should you need it following your procedure. Most patients report only needing to take it for the first couple of days.
In fact, after having Smartlipo you will be up and moving the very same day. You should expect to very sore and tender for a week or so, but this shouldn’t prevent normal activity. Most people return to work in just a couple of days, if not sooner.
You will begin to see results in about four weeks, and the results will only continue to improve over the course of three to six months. Remember, though, it is important to return for your follow up so that we can monitor your progress.
