Do you look in the mirror and think to yourself, the only thing lying between me and ME is that stubborn and seemingly there to stay, not so fab flab? You’ve dieted, exercised, minimized, maximized, analyzed and scrutinized, disguised, deprived, hypothesized, modified and compromised, but those darn stubborn bulges, flab and sag just won’t budge.
Luckily, you live in the 21st century and there are other options. Perhaps you’ve quietly considered liposuction, but it just seemed too brutal and invasive to undergo surgery. Depending on your particular case, you may be a good candidate for SmartLipo.
Traditional lipo had its time in the limelight, but now you will be happy to know that there is a revised and modernized option available called SmartLipo. Why is it smart? Due to its reliance on laser technology, it is much less invasive, requiring only very small incisions and only localized anesthesia, which translates to virtually no downtime after the procedure and the added bonus of triggering the skin’s natural production of collagen, firming loose skin. Smart.
SmartLipo is actually the only liposuction technique on the market today that is proven to tighten the skin.
A Close look at How SmartLipo Works and Who It Works For
SmartLipo is also known as laser lipolysis because it is laser assisted liposuction. The laser technology makes it possible to effectively treat an area with very minimal invasiveness, unlike traditional liposuction. SmartLipo melts the fat, turning it to liquid prior to suctioning it from the body. Prior to the treatment, the doctor will numb the area to be treated with a local anesthetic (typically lidocaine is the anesthetic).
Once the area is numbed, the doctor will make a very small (1- to 2- millimeter) incision or puncture in the skin and insert a very thin tube or cannula with a laser fiber running through it. The laser is moved back and forth through the fatty area just below the skin. When the laser fiber comes in contact with fat cells, the heat from the laser causes the cells to swell and burst into fatty oil, “melting” the fat.
Once the fat is melted, it is suctioned out of the body. The laser also triggers the body’s production of collagen, which tightens the skin, eliminating the concern that you will be left with loose, sagging skin.
What Makes SmartLipo Better
There are several enticing technologies that claim the same benefits as SmartLipo. A similar technique is ultrasound-assisted liposuction. This is another minimally-invasive procedure for fat removal. Both procedures break up fat cells making the fat easier to remove. Ultrasound liposuction uses ultrasonic waves, rather than laser to break up fat cells. If you are interested in fat transfer, ultrasonic liposuction is a good option as it maintains the integrity of the fat cell. Because Smartlipo melts the fat cell, destroying its structure it isn’t viable to be harvested and used elsewhere.
The major difference between the SmartLipo technique and the ultrasound technique is the size of the probe used. The ultrasonic probe is larger and therefore not suitable for smaller or detail areas such as curves and areas around the face (ie. chin/neck).
Regardless of what procedure you choose, the result you get depends on the surgeon’s skill and your body’s characteristics. Whichever modern liposuction technology you choose to go with, they will essentially do the same thing – get rid of fat cells.
The art of a pleasing outcome lies in the hands of your surgeon. If your surgeon is not experienced or doesn’t possess an artful eye, the technology used will not help you. When choosing a physician, be sure to do your research, make sure your doctor is credentialed (being board certified is a plus) and can provide proof of his or her skill (number of cases performed); also ask plenty of questions to determine whether or not you are an appropriate candidate in the first place. You are already fabulous on the inside, get rid of the flab and be fab on the outside too.
