Microneedling is an amazing procedure and can be used to correct many types of skin issues. Whether used preventatively for anti-aging, improve skin laxity, stretch marks, and even acne scars, Rejuvapen microneedling treatment can benefit almost anyone.
How Microneedling Treats Acne Scars
Even if your acne is gone, acne scars can leave embarrassing reminders and often take a long time to fully heal and may never disappear completely. If you have experienced acne in the past and now are left with scars, microneedling could be the answer to resolving this issue for you, leaving you more confident in your skin’s appearance and texture.
Microneedling is collagen induction therapy. At WIFH we use the Rejuvapen device for our microneedling treatments. Rejuvapen is a powered device that uses 9 surgical grade needles to make tiny microscopic punctures in the skin. It basically wounds the skin to initiate its natural healing process to make new skin fibers. The needles are able to pierce the scar tissue left behind by the acne allowing these areas to be softened and new skin to form. This allows the indentations to lift and the surface of the skin to smooth. It also helps to reduce pore size and tighten the skin. Often we use a “stamping” technique to address the area where acne scars are prevalent, allowing for deeper penetration and advanced healing effects.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
If you are trying to treat acne scars, you will need a series of microneedling treatments, likely more than is typically needed for general skin rejuvenation and aging. 8 sessions is typically a good estimation for acne scarring treatment, but you may need more depending on the severity of your acne scars.
