In past decades, the best way to remove stubborn deposits of fat in problem areas of your body was to undergo traditional liposuction. Today, the options are just as effective, but less invasive. SculpSure is one of those options, a state-of-the-art contouring procedure that we love because it reduces fat, contours the body, offers zero downtime, low risk, and minimal discomfort during treatment.
How SculpSure Works
Cynosure’s SculpSure process is an FDA-approved laser lipolysis treatment that works well on the flanks, thighs, back, arms, and abdomen. It is currently only FDA approved for abdomen and flanks, however, most facilities are treating almost all areas of the body with this device and seeing great results. The lasers heat is absorbed by the adipose tissue where the fat cells are housed. The heat disrupts the fat cells ejecting them from the adipose tissue.
Your body sees these eroded fat cells as trash and they are naturally eliminated over a period of weeks. The heat or hyperthermic energy delivered by SculpSure also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, the building blocks of healthy skin, so there is an element of skin tightening that goes along with the fat destruction.
SculpSure utilizes light-based technology – a 1060 nm diode laser, this laser is safe for all skin types and tones. The SculpSure device has 4 laser applicators which can run simultaneously, treatment time is 25 minutes. It runs on a modulation of heating and cooling. You will experience 10 seconds of cooling followed by 20 seconds of heating this continues for the 25 minute treatment time.
After the treatment is complete you are able to return to your normal activity immediately and yes that includes exercise. There is no bruising or pain post treatment. Some people have reported some mild tenderness in the treatment area for a few days.
Why it’s Amazing
When you use traditional methods such as diet and exercise to lose weight, you’re actually working to reduce the size of your individual fat cells. Think of it like wringing water out of a sponge. SculpSure operates differently. Because it destroys those fat cells completely, it is permanently getting rid of them. The fat cells can’t store more fat, because they’re gone. This fast-working process is a great way to re-shape your body with minimal effort.
The SculpSure Difference
SculpSure is known to reduce subcutaneous fat by about 24 percent per treatment. These results show up from 6-12 weeks after your treatment. It’s mostly painless, with no downtime, and the results are substantial. The applicators lay flat on the skin so there is no uncomfortable suction that is applied. You are able to return to normal activity immediately and again there is not skin irritation, bruising or pain post treatment. It is important to note that most people will require at least 2 treatments with SculpSure to obtain the best results. The best candidates are those with a BMI of less than 30.
Coolsculpting is a well known non-invasive body contouring procedure and is probably SculpSure’s closest competitor. Similar to SculpSure it too can reduce the fat in the area by about 24 percent and multiple treatments are typically needed. It too is recommended for those with a BMI of 30 or less. The major differences between Coolsculpting and SculpSure are the length of treatment, the delivery of the treatment and post procedure/recovery.
Like the name would imply, Coolsculpting uses cryo technology to freeze the fat. The frozen fat cells crystallize and then shattered. These fragments are then naturally eliminated by the body over several weeks. The freezing technology is delivered through a hand-piece that suctions the skin and fat up into the device, once frozen the area looks similar to a frozen stick of butter. It takes approximately 1 hour for treatment of the one area. Many people experience bruising and pain post treatment. Results are seen in 6-12 weeks.
In a nutshell, both SculpSure and Coolsculpting are non-invasive fat reducing procedures, both can eliminate up to 24 percent of the fat in the treated area, results from both are seen between 6-12 weeks post treatment. Differences: SculpSure 25 minute treatment, Coolsculpting 1 hour+ for treatment. SculpSure uses heat, Coolsculpting cooling. Sculpsure: applicators lay flat on the skin; Coolsculpting the skin and fat are suctioned up into a hand-piece. SculpSure no pain or skin irritation post treatment; Coolsculpting some downtime with bruising and pain.
There is no shortage of non-invasive fat reducing/body contouring procedures on the market these days. After trying nearly all of them we chose SculpSure and we love it because it really makes a difference in the way you look without pain or downtime.
