Though Micro Fractional cO2 is likely the most effective skin resurfacing procedure, yielding amazing results, it is not right for everyone. It does a great job at correcting large pores, sun damage, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles.
Sound interesting? Micro Fractional cO2 might be the perfect procedure to rejuvenate your skin, but there are a few things to keep in mind before deciding if this procedure is right for you.
It’s important to note that Micro Fractional cO2 only works for light skin types and is not safe for darker skin types. It is also recommended that you be as fair as possible, meaning no sun exposure, before having this procedure done. Often patients will have this procedure done during the fall and winter months to ensure their skin is free of a tan.
How It Works
Micro Fractional cO2 is different from the old-school cO2 procedure, which made your skin look like raw hamburger meat for weeks. Instead of damaging and ablating the entire surface of the face at once, this procedure makes micro wounds in the skin, damaging about half of the skin’s surface and allowing the new skin to grow into the old.
Although it sounds strange, the process uses a similar concept as you would use when aerating your lawn. This procedure tightens the skin, reduces sun damage, shrinks pore size, reduces the appearance of acne scars, and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, including those around the mouth.
Downtime After the Procedure
Keep in mind, there is some downtime with this procedure. You may have some pinpoint bleeding for the first day and will experience redness and swelling post procedure. To allow your skin to heal safely, you will be required to use provided post-procedure skin care products and medications. Also, be prepared to avoid wearing make up for four to five days. Luckily, though, you will not experience any pain or discomfort post-procedure!
How Many Treatments?
Most patients only need one Micro Fractional cO2 treatment, but those with more severe acne scars might need a second treatment for optimal results.
