Everyone wants better skin, but the question is how? Many people might automatically think of going to a day spa to get a facial or mud mask, but med spas or medical spas provide the same opportunity to relax and renew but with treatments that are both therapeutic as well as corrective. Unlike day spas, med spas provide medical grade skin treatments to actually correct unwanted skin conditions like pigmentation, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, volume loss, redness, and uneven tone.
At WIFH, we offer many different med spa services for better looking skin, all of which are great options. If you’re wondering what kind of service you might want to try, you can always contact WIFH for a consultation and one of our skin specialists can create a treatment plan that will get your skin healthy and glowing. For now, here is some more information about a few of our favorite med spa services that will help improve your skin.
Microneedling is fractional collagen induction therapy. What does that actually mean? By making micro wounds in the skin, your body’s natural healing process ignites to produce collagen and skin fibers to rejuvenate and heal the skin. At WIFH, we use the Rejuvapen device for microneedling. This handheld powered device has a tip that contains nine tiny surgical needles that pass painlessly over the skin to create tiny punctures or wounds. Though the wounds are not visible to the eye, they allow the body’s natural healing process to begin. During the healing process, your skin creates collagen and elastin, the building blocks of skin tissue, and eventually leaves you with smaller pores, better texture, an even tone, tighter, smoother, and softer skin.
At WIFH, our microneedling treatments also includes the use of a growth factor. What is growth factor? Our bodies naturally make growth factor, they help to maintain healthy skin cells as well as repair damaged skin cells. They help to increase skin laxity, firmness and thickness. Advances in skincare have made lab created human growth factor serums available for clinical and at home use. So, while your body is sending its own growth factors to heal the wounds made from microneedling we apply topical growth factor before we begin needling to infuse them into the wounded skin. We also apply it again after completing your treatment. This is giving your skin a super boost in growth factors that speed the healing process and provide better results.
Microneedling is a great skin rejuvenation med spa service to treat issues like: large pores, fine lines/wrinkles, crepey skin, uneven texture, acne scars, and stretch marks. Microneedling is safe for all skin types and can be used to treat almost any area of the body.
For best results you will need a series of Microneedling treatments. We recommend starting with 4 treatments, having a treatment every 4 weeks. You will start to notice improvement in your skin in a couple weeks following your first treatment. It can take up to 12 weeks for the collagen production process to complete within your body so even after your last microneedling treatment you will continue to see improvement in your skin for weeks to come. Your skin will be noticeably firmer and healthier.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Technology
IPL or Photofacial uses multiple wavelengths of light with specialized filters to deliver the exact energy your skin needs for the treatment of specific conditions. Light is delivered into your skin with each pulse to treat brown spots, vascular lesions, or sun-damage. IPL treatments also known as photofacials are great for the treatment of uneven pigmentation, redness from rosacea, uneven texture, large pore size, facial vessels, and problems with skin tone and laxity.
With IPL, we can treat most areas of the body: face, neck, chest, arms, hands, back, shoulders, and legs. During the treatment you will feel some warmth and with each pulse it may feel like a mild snap of a rubber band on your skin, but the sensation does not last long and it is well tolerated by all of our patients. The treatments generally take between 15 to 30 minutes.
Dermaplaning is a treatment that removes both the outer most layer of dead skin along with the fine “peach fuzz” hair called vellus. This treatment is done using a surgical scalpel to shave or exfoliate the skin making your skin instantly softer and smoother.
At WIFH, dermaplaning can be done as a stand-alone procedure or it can be done before having any of our other skin treatments and procedures. By dermaplaning before say, a chemical peel, it will allow the peel to penetrate deeper allowing for better results. Any application of products after dermaplaning will allow them to be better absorbed deeper into the dermis where they will be most effectively used. As a stand-alone treatment it provides great exfoliation and by removing the tiny little hairs that cover our faces you will notice your makeup will look flawless because your skin is so smooth and soft.
Dermaplaning is great for anyone. This treat is super addictive, if you do it once you’ll do it again. You can do these on an as needed basis and before any skin treatment or procedure.
At WIFH, the HydraFacial is the closest you’ll get to a day spa service while still being medical grade. HydraFacial is great to treat skin issues like: fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, uneven tone or texture, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, congestion, enlarged pores and acne.
