Botox remains the number one aesthetic procedure to treat unwanted lines and wrinkles on the upper face (frown lines, crow’s feet, and brow lines). At WIFH, we have administered thousands of Botox injections with excellent results and no complications.
Honestly, Botox is a very safe procedure and complications are rare, even still you want an experienced injector when selecting your Botox provider. There are many things to consider and typically the ones at the top of the list are price, experience and authenticity.
Average Botox Costs
Since the cost of Botox can vary greatly, it might seem tempting to go with the least expensive option. Some facilities price their Botox by the unit, which can range from $8/unit to $15+/unit. Allergan, the maker of Botox, recommends 25-units per area, but this is purely a guideline. Some individuals won’t need 25 units and other may need more. You will also find some facilities charge a flat rate per area (ie: frown lines, crow’s feet and/or forehead for $xxx).
If your facility charges per area, understanding how many units they administer to each “area” is crucial in getting a full grasp of what you will get for the price you pay. At WIFH, we charge by the unit and our current unit cost is $11/unit. We also participate in Allergan’s Brilliant Distinctions program, which is a way to earn points every time you come in for your injections (Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, Volbella). These points can then be redeemed for vouchers which we accept like cash.
Not all facilities participate in this program with Allergan even if they carry Allergan products, so be sure you ask, these points do add up and it can help to off-set the cost of your next injection.
What to Look For in a Botox Practitioner
When choosing where to get your Botox, you want to make sure you find a highly experienced administrator. You do not have to have the “frozen” look so many associate with Botox. The amount of Botox you receive is completely customizable. Obviously, the more Botox you get in an area the less movement you will have. An experienced Botox injector will be able to consult with you about the look you are trying to achieve and customize your Botox dosage accordingly.
Also, make sure your administrator is using authentic Botox, which is always manufactured and distributed by the company Allergan. When getting Botox, it is not at all unreasonable to request to see the actual vial or Botox to ensure the administrator is using the authentic product. You should always be aware of where your Botox is coming from and feel confident in asking for authenticity and quality from your Botox administrator.
