How does it Work?

The Revlite SI laser is different that the lasers we use for laser hair removal or skiin resurfacing.  It is a Q Switch Laser which means heat energy is delivered very rapidly breaking up the ink into tiny particles. Your immune system (aka: your bodies filtration system) sends in special cells to process these cells and carry them away. At the end of this very quick procedure we apply aloe gel and place a gauze over it.  We will also give you a small ice pack and instructions for aftercare. 

 Everyone wants to know, does it hurt?  The real answer is YES BUT we get everyone through this quick session.  It literally takes seconds to treat the majority of tattoos and everyone does fine!  The cold air we blow on the tattoo has a numbing effect which really helps. 

 The tattoo will “frost”, meaning a hazy color will form over the tattoo. This will dissipate in about 20-30 minutes. Some people may notice swelling of the area. You will begin to see fading in about one month following your first treatment. Depending on your skin type, you can expect to return for subsequent visits every 6-8 weeks. As a rule, tattoos can take between 5 to 15 sessions to remove. Your procedure will be done by either Dr. Kulkin or one of our PA’s or NP’s, each with years of laser experience.
