Ethnic Skin

People with dark skin types can easily have their tattoos removed.  However, while researching laser tattoo removal, men and women of color should be aware of some special considerations.  Black and red tattoos do quite well.  Light colors like sky blue, lavender, yellow or green require the use of a different laser than black tattoos.  We choose not to use these lasers on dark skin as we know they will cause pigment issues with your skin.  We have seen too many people from other facilites that come to us with skin pigment issues as a direct result of these color specific lasers being used.  At WIFH we want you to be aware of all the benefits and risks of any procedure we offer.  While we have done over 100,000 laser hair removal procedures on dark skin without a burn, it is because we know exactly how to use the Yag laser for this purpose.  For tattoos on dark skin, we use a Q switched Yag which too, is safe for your skin .  Mild pigment issues related to the Q switched Yag are well tolerated by our patients who feel it is more important to them to get the tattoo removed.
