Hyperhydrosis is not just an ordinary sweat problem, it’s characterized by sweating excessively at all times regardless of external conditions. Sweat is the bodies natural way of regulating its temperature, however, hyperhydrosis is defined when sweating significantly exceeds the body's normal requirement for cooling. Smartlipo to treat hyperhydrosis uses the same technique we use to remove fat, without the suction. As with fat removal it is performed under local anesthesia. A numbing solution is injected in the underarm and then a very tiny incision (1/8 inch) is made in the skin. A laser is then inserted and used to deeply heat the underlying dermis and surrounding tissue. It is this heat that permanently shuts down sweat production in the gland, solving even the worst hyperhydrosis problem. Smartlipo for hyperhydrosis is performed in our office under local anesthesia.
