Ethnic Skin Treatments

We are well aware that people with ethnic skin types have unique issues when it comes to laser procedures.  At WIFH we have done thousands of procedures on ethnic skin with excellent results.  The procedures below provide are excellent and safe to produce the skin improving results you are seeking.

Affirm Laser

Affirm Laser – We understand that downtime procedures are simply not for everyone.  While the CO2 laser makes micro-cuts in the skin and is not safe for darker skin tones, the Affirm Laser safely works by delivering laser energy into the skin without cutting.   Studies presented at recent laser meetings indicate that we can achieve comparable results with the Affirm laser, however, eight sessions at one each month intervals, are necessary.   We do NOT typically use a numbing cream for this procedure though some prefer it.   While the improvement in the skin texture, tone and pore size is quite significant, acne scarring and sun damage respond better with CO2.  Patients leave the office looking quite red, however, this is short lived often lasting minutes or up to 24 hours after the procedure.  Make-up may be applied immediately.  This procedure may be performed on all skin types making this one of the few skin rejuvenation procedures that can be safely done on darker skin types.

What is the Melanage Skin Lightening System?

Do you have uneven skin tone, deep pigment issues or melasma? The Melanage Skin Lightening System is a superficial peel designed to improve the texture and appearance of hyperpigmented skin which involves a medicated masque and an at-home regimen.

How does it work?

The Melanage Masque (step 1) is applied during an office visit where it is compounded freshly by our Medical Aesthetician or Nurse Practitioners to ensure its potency and reliability.  The masque is removed by the patient after a required length of time depending on their skin type.  Patients leave the office with this masque on their face, and are responsible for adhering to an easy-to-follow, but strict, at-home regimen involving the application of several Post-Treatment products following masque removal.

What results can I expect?

Results will vary but generally patients will see a significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas.  Dark spots will lighten and skin texture and tone will improve.  Although most patients experience peeling of their skin, not every patient will notice this.  If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of the Melanage Skin Lightening System, such as:  stimulation of collagen production, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminishment of fine lines and pigmentation.

Vitalize Peel by SkinMedica

Vitalize Peel is a powerful yet non-damaging chemical peel that helps fight the effects of time, sun damage, and environmental assaults.  It is the only superficial peel suitable for all skin tones and complexions.  This special formulation includes a unique blend of peeling agents: alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids, resorcinol, and retinoic acid.  While results are predictable and noticeable after just one peel, dramatic results are seen after a series of peels.

We have been treating scars since 2006.  We have proven time and time again that we can fade these scars in all skin types.  The Affirm laser is able to "remodel" the scar tissue to "shrink" the size and color" of scars.  We can treat acne scars, surgical scars or even scars from burns.  We think it is important to know that many of our patients who have had one scar treated have elected to ask us to treat other scars on their bodies.  The process is painless and takes a few minutes. You can return to your normal activity immediately.
