The First Visit

On your first visit you will be greeted by one of our Patient Concierge prior to meeting with Dr. Kulkin, or a clinical staff member for your consultation. YOU WILL NOT MEET WITH A SALESPERSON or CONSULTANT as you would at other offices.

We will also never ask you to sign any type of contract.  We just don’t require them.  We pride ourselves on starting 99% of our appointments on time so don't expect to wait!  Most of our patients start their first session of laser hair removal during this visit, but that decision is entirely up to you!  If you know for certain you would like to start, please let us know when you schedule your consultation appointment so we can reserve the appropriate amount of time for you.  If you are unable to come to your appointment, we greatly appreciate 24 hours notice so that another patient may use the scheduled time. 

We will review your medical history and ask a few questions that are important to anyone considering laser hair removal. We will explain the process with you and, of course, we will answer any questions you have, so please feel free to jot them down and bring them in with you.

How to prepare for you first visit

In advance of your visit, you should shave the area we are going to treat, with the exception of woman with face or neck hair. We like to assess those "problem areas" first, and then will provide you a razor before we begin your laser hair removal session.

For bikini hair removal, shave the area as you would like it to look when the treatment is finished. We have done thousands of bikini areas over the years, and have seen many varieties of shapes and designs, so we believe it is important that you shave to your preference.

A typical laser hair removal session lasts well under an hour. Facial hair is treated in about 15 minutes, while it takes about 45-60 minutes to laser both legs and 45 minutes to treat the entire back. Bikini areas usually take 10 to 15 minutes. Many patients describe the laser hair removal sensation as a rubber band hitting the skin, but the consensus is almost unanimous, "It's much better than waxing!" Fewer than 20 percent of our patients use a numbing ointment. If, after your first session, you decide that you want this ointment, we will prescribe it for you and explain how to safely use it. 

Minimal redness is typical after a laser hair removal session.  Any redness you experience is typically gone in about an hour. And yes, you can apply makeup right away, and can return to work or play with NO DOWN TIME. If for any reason you experience a medical problem after our office has closed, we do provide Dr. Kulkin’s cell phone number on our after-hours voicemail message.  We want all of our patients to know the doctor is always available to you!
