What is Cellulaze?
Cellulaze is the first, minimally invasive laser procedure that attacks the structural problems beneath the skin that cause cellulite. Cellulaze — an anti-cellulite laser treatment — has been called a “game-changer” in the treatment of cellulite by many publications around the country since its release in early 2012.
Until Cellulaze only surface treatments and topical creams existed for the treatment of cellulite. They offered temporary improvement, if any at all. Cellulaze offers clinically proven results that last long term and maybe forever. See our Cellulaze pricing or schedule your complimentary consultation today.
How Does Cellulaze Work?
Cellulite is a frustrating fact of life for many women. Many believe it is a fat problem which can be addressed with diet and exercise; this is simply not the case. Cellulite is caused by factors that are out of your control.
Age, hormones, genetics and dramatic weight change bear responsibility for that unsightly cellulite. These factors cause the septea or connective tissue bands to become stiff and rigid squeezing the fat cells they surround. This tension makes the pockets of fat bulge and push up into the skin giving way to that “cottage cheese” appearance.
Cellulaze is a one time, minimally invasive procedure that eliminates bothersome cellulite at its source. Cellulaze utilizes the Smartlipo Triplex laser to enter and melt the trapped fatty pockets, disband the rigid connective tissue and thicken and tighten the skin.
About the Cellulaze Procedure
Watch Dr. Kulkin Perform Cellulaze on CNN
Dr. Kulkin will mark the area(s) of cellulite to be treated using a stencil and marker, denoting both the fatty pockets and connective tissue bands. Photos are also taken prior to starting your Cellulaze procedure. The procedure starts with the infusion of lidocaine into the fat, the exact same technique we use in our liposuction procedure. This is done through a couple of tiny incisions or punctures, about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen.
Once healed these incisions are virtually invisible. Lidocaine is the numbing medicine most dentist use during dental procedures, this is exactly what we are using just in much higher volume. The numbing fluid is very effective and allows for a comfortable procedure. After you are completely numb, we insert the SideLight 3D Cellulaze laser fiber. The heat from the laser melts the trapped fatty pockets that are creating the bulges and it cuts and releases the fibrous bands that pull the skin down, creating the dimpled depressions.
The skin also absorbs the laser energy which stimulates collagen production to increase your skin’s firmness and elasticity. The liquefied fat is gently expressed. The entire Cellulaze laser treatment for cellulite takes approximately 1-1 ½ hours per area; an example of an area would be the backs of both thighs. You may have some drainage from the incision sites for the first 24-48 hours post procedure. You’ll have some significant bruising for two weeks and the area maybe tender. We will provide you with a compression garment that you will wear for 2 weeks following the procedure.
After Getting Laser Treatment for Cellulite
You are able to get back to your normal activities 1-2 days following your procedure, many patients return to work the next day. You can resume more strenuous exercise after one to two weeks or as you feel up to it. We have patients from all around the country that have traveled here to have Dr. Kulkin perform their Cellulaze treatment. They are able to fly in; have their procedure done and fly out the next day. You will start to see improvement in about one month, but your results will continue to improve up to 12 months post procedure.
With the Cellulaze laser treatment for cellulite, you have to be patient, we can’t stress this enough. People have become accustom to surface treatments that offer immediate, but short term results. Cellulaze is the exact opposite, the results are gradual, but once full results are reached the results are long term. On the day of the procedure Dr. Kulkin destroys and levels the cellulite’s structure by melting the fat and releasing it by cutting the septea. He also deeply heats the skin tissue to ignite its remodeling process. Understand that over time the skin has molded to the cellulite. The parts that have been stretched over the bulges have significantly thinned and need to thicken in order to look smooth again.
The heat from the laser causes tissue coagulation or skin tightening. Your body is also reading this heat as an injury and it reacts by sending a signal to your brain that triggers a healing response. Your body begins to overproduce collagen and elastin, the building blocks of skin. This process takes time (up to 12 months to complete), but it’s absolutely worth it. Your results will improve month after month. Because the results are gradual we recommend having your before photos available so that you can see for yourself what a difference Cellulaze has made. You will be thrilled!
